Most of Lavallette's visitors are attracted to the wonderful ocean beach where they may enjoy the traditional delight of the warm sunlight and ocean waves. It is a beautiful beach with soft white sand and blue water, which makes it the ideal seasonal resort.

Lavallette is located on a flat surfaced island that produces soils that are mostly beach sand and gravel. By nature, the amount of sand on the beach has been decreasing due to shoreline erosion. The thin surrounding sand barrier serves a major purpose of protecting the town from devastating Atlantic storms.

The beach is made up to two parts; the bern and the dunes. The berm is the area of the beach where visitors can come together to enjoy the sun and surf. Recently, these dunes have been built to protect the boardwalks and ocean front homes during the northeaster storms and hurricanes.

Lavallette's popular business strip is located along the entire length of Grand Central Avenue, State Rt. 35N. The commercial district, which is walking distance from the beach, is continuing to develop along with multi-family homes, such as condominiums and town houses.

The ocean beach is Lavallette's greatest natural resource and a great place for summer fun in the sun.
